View IT System Statuses Kettering University is migrating its ERP system, Ellucian Banner, and other data systems to the cloud from April 25 to May 2. This upgrade will improve security, reliability, and future technology integration. During the migration process, Banner and a few other systems will be unavailable and integrations from those systems will be delayed.
What is the project?
At the end of this month, Kettering University will be moving our ERP, Ellucian Banner, and a number of other central data systems from on-premise to a cloud-hosted environment. This migration will help to provide more scalable and reliable infrastructure, better security for the university data, and makes us better prepared to take advantage of new software and technology as it becomes available.
What does it affect?
In preparation for this move, Kettering staff have spent the last two years cleaning data, modernizing applications, standardizing processes, and configuring the new cloud environment. This includes not only our ERP, but also 49 third-party applications, 53 legacy-built applications, and almost 300 custom scripts and processes. This context is helpful not only to explain why such a large window is required for the upgrade but, by illustrating the scale of this project, ask for grace in any stumbles or inconveniences you may experience during the migration.

The widest outages during the migration will be behind-the-scenes, so while frequently-used tools will still be accessible, integrations will be delayed until the migration is complete. For instance, payment of tuition, dining, and student accounts will be fully available during the outage, but the recording of those payments in other systems will be delayed.
How long will this take?
Systems will begin being taken down at noon on Friday, April 25th. The affected systems will remain down as systems, data, and integrations are migrated to the new cloud environment. We expect all software to be available again beginning Wednesday evening, April 30th and all systems and integrations to be operational by the end of that week.
I'm an incoming undergraduate student and just made my $300 tuition deposit. How does this affect me?
If you submitted your $300 tuition deposit between Friday, April 25 and Wednesday, April 30, your upgraded student access should become available by Friday, May 2. This includes access to Student Self Service Banner and KU Wallet.
I've submitted a request for my Academic Transcript. Will my request be delayed?

I need to purchase a new Meal Plan. How does this affect me?
It's important to be aware we are unable to discuss your student's information with you while our systems are down during this timeframe. We expect our systems to return to service on Thursday, May 1. Using your student's authorization through Proxy Passphrase, we will once again be able to discuss their Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and/or academic records.
Can I make a tuition payment during this time?
KU ePay uses Banner to authenticate students. Students will be unable to log into KU ePay during this timeframe. A student's Authorized User will be able to log into KU ePay to make a payment. Please be aware the balance shown is effective as of April 25, 2025. Students also have the option of making a payment by cash or check to the Student Accounts office located on the 3rd floor of the Academic Building.
My browser bookmarks no longer work. Where do I find the new links to applications?

We will continue to send out communications leading up to the outage as well as updates while the migration is underway. In the meantime, we have created an IT System Status page that will be continually updated with information on systems availability and expectations. We will also be compiling and continually updating a list of frequently asked questions for reference.
Finally, an open forum with the Vice President of Technology will be held during common hour on Wednesday, April 9th, 12:30-1:30pm at the 3rd Floor Deveson Knowledge Bar in the Learning Commons. Please join me to ask questions, convey any concerns or anxieties, or just wish us luck!
