Setting Up Google Authenticator for Two-Step Verification
*Before getting started, you will need a
mobile device and a laptop or desktop for this.*
1. First, if not already installed on your mobile device. Download the Google Authenticator app from your app store.
2. Sign in with
whichever personal email of
your choice (Not your Kettering email).
3. Allow saving codes to this account
4. Select “Add a code”
5. Select Scan a QR Code
6. Set down your mobile device for a second.
On your laptop or desktop. Sign in
to your Kettering Email. Click on your Google icon/picture. Select
Manage your Google account. Navigate to Security>How you Sign into
Google>Authenticator.
7. Click Set up Authenticator and scan the QR
code with your Mobile Device. It will then prompt you to type in a 6-digit code
from the Authenticator app on your Mobile Device.
8. After typing in your 6-digit code it should
look something like this on your mobile device. (Where the white box is there
will be the 6-digit codes you will use for 2-Step Verification. These codes
change every 30 seconds).
